SCAR-Heavy Close Quarter Combat with Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module
The SCAR Rifle System achieves complete ergonomic compatibility along with 99% parts commonality between platforms in the same caliber. The SCAR enhances individual officer effectiveness and simplifies mission capabilities, logistic support, reduces training time and minimizes armorer service downtime. The SCAR's free floating barrels are quickly interchangeable by loosening six captive screws. All major windage and elevation adjustments are made at the permanently-attached front sight. Both US Government and manufacturer's testing prove that when a SCAR barrel is removed and then reinstalled , it will return within one minute of angle (1 MOA) to the previously established zero.
40mm low velocity Enhanced Grenade Launcher (EGLM) handles all types of ammunition used by law enforcement.
The FN Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module (EGLM) is the third part of the SCAR weapon system. A single shot pump-action launcher with rotating locking breech, the EGLM accepts all NATO-standard 40x46mm low velocity ammunition including high explosive, illumination, smoke, buckshot, CS/OC, barricade penetrating and training rounds. The EGLM may be quickly mounted underneath either the SCAR-Light or SCAR-Heavy, or it may be configured as a stand-alone launcher with a telescoping stock assembly. Like the two FN SCARs, it is a completely ambidextrous design and may be fitted with either a tradtitional leaf sight or mechanical quadrant sight.
